In the past, only hospital treatment could remove the excruciating pain of kidney stones. And, whilst these were effective, they did little to address the root cause of kidneys stones. Kidney Stone Surgery: The most obvious and drastic of these was kidney stone surgery. The ureter is a narrow tube connecting the bladder with the kidney and is the place where the kidney stone tends to get lodged.

Once the device makes physical contact with the stone, the shockwave treatment begins. Because of the direct contact, the shock waves are able to achieve the same effect with much less trauma, leading to a reduction of the painful side effects.

Kidney Stone Laser Treatment: This procedure is sometimes used to remove or break up stones which have already passed two thirds of the way from the kidney to the bladder and then got stuck, causing great pain.

A fiber optic instrument, called an ureteroscope, is inserted through the urethra, then through the bladder and finally up the ureter until it reaches the stone. Once the stone is located, the urologist either shatters the stone with a laser or pneumatic device. This procedure is performed under general or local anesthetic, but recovery is quite swift.

Kidney Stone Natural Treatment: about 80% or more of kidney stones are composed of calcium oxalate and so it is possible to avoid any form of medical procedure — or even a visit to the hospital — by using some simple, regular grocery items from your convenience store. The chief component of this is a mild acid drink to smooththe rough edges of the stone, reducing its diameter and allowing it to be passed painlessly down the urinary tract.
