A toothache is any soreness, discomfort or pain within or around a tooth, signifying irritation, and swelling, reddening and possible infection with a possibility of abscess. When tooth decay penetrates the pulp chamber or reaches in its close proximity that contains the nerve endings and tiny blood vessels, a toothache starts emerging.

The main reason behind toothache is poor eating habits. Eating too much of sweet stuff like chocolate, cakes, pastries. Toothache pain is often allayed by placing a small piece of onion on the bad tooth or gum, since onion has antibacterial properties that kill the germs in the mouth.

Natural treatment for toothache: Dip a q-tip in marjoram oil and put on the aching tooth.

One home remedy for toothache that people often forget about is an ice pack. The cold from the ice will cause your mouth to experience a numbing sensation, which will ultimately provide you with pain relief. Another option that is known to be even more effective is a bag of frozen peas, since they will conform to your jaw.

A paste of the bay berry mixed with vinegar. This paste, applied on the affected tooth, will relieve the toothache. It can also be applied beneficially on the gums for strengthening them. This is one of the useful home remedies for toothache.

A mixture of a pinch of pepper powder and a quarter teaspoon of common salt is an excellent. Its daily use prevents dental cavities, foul breath, bleeding from the gums, painful gums, and toothaches. Asafetida: Asafetida is a very useful to get relieve from toothache. If the heated paste of asafetida with lemon juice is applied on affected area, it will relieve pain quickly.

Vanilla extracts also work wonders as a home remedy for toothache. But, a source says that almond extracts works better for it contains 2% more alcohol against the 35% alcohol content of the vanilla extract. This works by dipping a ball of cotton in the extract soon afterward placing it on top of the affected tooth.
