Eat foods high in base content- Alkaline is said to repress the urge to smoke. This works by changing the preference of taste in your taste buds. Somehow, our taste buds are conditioned to like the taste of smoke and the other substances and food we have associated with the habit. In India, people often use this technique to remove their craving for smoke. Boiled oats, particularly, are said to control opium addiction.

Get tested for allergies. Find that you are congested all of the time or even a season or two during the year? It could be allergies causing the congestion. Inability to breathe out of the nose can lead to snoring. Get checked out by an Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor as well as an Allergy specialist. It could be that simple medicines with low side effects can take care of your allergies AND your snoring. Allergy shots could also be a more long term solution to getting rid of the congestion.

Get a pillow with less fluff. Big, bulky pillows can create a kink in the neck which impairs breathing. Impaired breathing can lead to snoring. Try a pillow with a little less fluff to see if it reduces or eliminates the snoring.

Sleep and wake up on time. Make sure that you get sufficient sleep. Poor sleeping habits may cause you to snore.

Exercise regularly to improve your cardiovascular health, breathing and lung capacity. It also helps to keep your nasal passages firm and in good conditioning. In addition, it keeps your weight under control. People who often exercise tend to snore less. However, never exercise before bedtime as this may keep you awake instead of sleeping.

Singing and talking before sleeping can reduce your snoring. They are effective home remedies for snoring. During sleep, your tongue will either help or block the flow of air through the throat. These simple exercises help to keep the tongue in a proper position and strengthen the muscles that cause snoring. When the lax throat muscles become tightened, you should stop snoring.
