Gout is a type of inflammation of the joints and swellings of a recurrent type. Gout is chronic in character and occurs in acute attacks. It is a disease of the wealthy and chiefly affects middle-aged men. Women, after menopause, are also sometimes affected by this disease.
According to both modern medicine, and ayurvedic studies, gout is a form of arthritus caused by a defect in body chemistry. It begins with a buildup of toxins in the joints as a result of poor digestion and a weakened colon. This condition most often affects men.
Home Remedies for Gout
Extract the juice of half lemon and pour it in 1 glass of water. Drink it three times in a day.
Beans, green leafy vegetables, bananas and potatoes are rich in calcium and protect against gout.
Ginger: Ginger produces prostoglandins and leukrotrienes. These substances help eliminate pain and inflammation of the muscles. Studies have proven that the use of ginger has worked to relieve arthritic pain, and has done so with no side affects. People have taken ginger for arthritic pain and inflammation for up to two years.
The juice of French beans has proved beneficial in treating gout. Drink half cup of this juice everyday for about a month.
Apple Cider Vinegar is a wonderful old-timers home remedy, cures more ailments than any other folk remedy. Try 2 tbsp of organic apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 tablespoons of organic honey (2 times daily). within a few hours the pain of gout will start to subside. This is one of the best home remedies for gout.
Fresh pineapple juice, raw potato juice and juice of french beans or string beans are effective.
Lime is also used as a source in treating gout. Vitamin C is known to prevent and cure sore joints by strengthening the connective tissues of the body. The citric acid found in lime is a solvent of the uric acid which is the primary cause of this disease. The juice of half a lime, squeezed into a glass of water, should be taken twice daily.
Bananas serve as an excellent remedy for curing gout. Consume a diet of bananas for three to four days.
Exercise regularly. Regular exercise can relieve or prevent joint pain. Exercise is needed to nourish the joint cartilage. regular exercise helps the body remove waste products. Exercise strengthens the muscles around the joint. Developing strong muscles will support the joint more effectively and reduce injuries. Stretching your muscles helps you maintain a range of motion
Start eating 15-25 cherries a day, initially. Thereafter about 10 cherries a day is sufficient. Cherries are also potent against gout. Either in sweet or sour form, cherries also contain high antioxidant levels and can also cleanse the body. Consume about fifteen to twenty cherries a day while gout symptoms persist. While fresh cherries are best, canned or preserved cherries are also beneficial.
