What is Gout?

Gout is an acute and most painful rheumatic disease, caused by the accumulation of crystals of uric acid (monosodium urate) in the joints, tendons and other tissues of the body. These deposits cause attacks of arthritis with inflammation and pain. The attack may develop suddenly during the night. The gout can be experienced commonly at big toe joint and also at other joints such as foot, hand, knee or shoulder.

What are the Symptoms of Gout?

The #1 biggest symptom of gout is extreme pain, swelling, throbbing and heat in the joint of your big toe.

Other symptoms of gout include:

· Multiple attacks of acute arthritis

· Arthritis attacks that develop over the course of an extremely quick time (e.g., over the span of 12-24 hours with inflamed, painful, red, and hot joints)

Home Remedies for Gout

Cocktails can certainly help to relax a person, but they have no benefit when it comes to gout. In fact, alcohol can actually worsen the pain and other symptoms. Cutting alcohol out of your diet completely is really recommended. If you try it, you’ll notice a difference in pain almost immediately.

Eating cherries, consuming carrot juice, French beans, cucumber and beet juices, apples, lime, and bananas all offer dietary treatments for gout. Different doctors recommend specific measurements, but the types of foods remain the same. Using citric acid of lime actually cures a major cause of the disease that is the build up of uric acid. Cleansing the body of toxins and unwelcome nutrients is important for overall wellness, but may also offer a natural cure for gout.

After a five-day period during which only fruits and vegetables are taken, milk should be added to the diet. It should preferably be boiled and taken in quantities of 250 to 500 millilitres at one time. Bread should be taken only after a fortnight of living on fruits and vegetables. Potatoes can replace bread with advantages as they contain more alkaline matter.
