Earache can be anything from slightly painful to extremely painful and are usually brought on by a fluid buildup (sometimes resulting from an infection), or a buildup of pressure in the middle ear.
A highly common cause of the earache is due to plugged ‘Eustachian’ tubes (the tube that comes from the back of your throat and connects to your middle ear). If and when your Eustachian tube becomes blocked, fluid will gather resulting in a painful earache, bringing with it the possibility of bacteria buildup or infection.
If the ear is red, hot and painful especially after exposure to cold temperature, use Aconite, this homeopathic remedy is excellent for ear infection.
Boil 3-4 cloves of Garlic in some water. Mash them and add a pinch of salt. Wrap this poultice in a flannel or woolen cloth and place on the aching ear.This is one of the best home remedies for earache.
Ear oils, the traditional and old way, is more effective way for ear ache. You can make a mixture of one garlic clove, peeled and finely chopped and half a fresh mullein leaf, finely cut. Mix them with 2/3 cup of olive oil in a clean glass pint jar. Seal the jar tightly and keep it in sunlight for at least about 10 days. This helps in extracting the active constituents into the oil from the ingredients. After you see slight yellowish-brown color for the oil, after 10 days, strain the oil through a fine mesh wire sieve. Then again, through clean cotton cloth or muslin. Take this oil in another different glass container and add few drops of melaleuca or tea tree oil. Put 3 to 4 drops of this mixture into the ear for at least 4 times a day and each time allow it to settle for minimum of 10 minutes.
Take a clean long sock, most likely a mens sock, put about a cup of rice in the sock and heat it in the microwave for about a min. then put it on the ear that is hurting and take some pain med. not only does this take away the pressure causing the pain but if you do this often enough it will drain the build up in your ear.
Pour some garlic juice in the paining ear; its antibiotic qualities will help to relieve the pain. If your earache is due to rise in altitude than just chew gum or yawn. This will contract the muscles and open the Eustachian tubes. For swimmer’s ear, put some mineral oil in both ears before going in the water. Apply some heat to your aching ear using a heating pad or a warm cloth. Put few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the aching ear. Put two drops of holy basil leaves’ juice in the aching ear.
Eustachian tubes are internal passages connecting each inner ear to its own opening inside the upper throat. Earache can also be caused by pain and inflammation of the outer portion of the ear (the pinna). Most Earache Symptoms include is touching or pulling on the ear worsens the pain, Hearing loss, Blocked or full sensation in the ear and Swelling of the ear.
