Head lice are very small parasites that live in your hair. Also, the only way to even get them is to come in contact with someone who already has head lice. This can of course happen many ways, one being sharing of a comb. The good news is that these parasites are not dangerous, and the only thing they do to you is cause itching.

So what should you do about head lice? Prevention is key. You should check your child’s hair weekly with a special comb, called a louse comb. Also, long hair should be kept tidy. Rosemary oil is also an option, and by using 2 - 4 drops on the child’s hair before they come into contact with lice you can prevent infestation.

So what treatments are available if you already have head lice? Simply washing your hair using water and shampoo, and then combing the hair can help remove a great number of the bugs. This may take a very long time however. Shaving your head aslo works, if you want to do that. There are also a number of other chemical treatments, but these can cause some serious damage to your hair if not careful.

Furthermore, there is evidence suggesting that oils, creams, and enzymes are not effective in the treatment of head lice. My suggestion to you is to find a natural remedy. Natural products can be safe, effective, cheap, and in my experience work the best without any damage to the hair.
